Said the apple to the orange:
"Oh, I wanted you to come
Close to me and kiss me to the core.
Then you might know me like no other orange
Has ever done before."
-- “A Small Fruit Song” Al Stewart
Loss. Anxiety. Hope. Love. Playfulness. All of these exist as potentials in human interaction. We don’t know where the next person we meet might take us. The song quoted above is one of my favorite songs of all time, and similarly to The Theory of Relativity, it in some small way captures those radiant possibilities. It’s why live theatre is so special. When a performer meets an audience, the footprints of human interaction could lead anywhere.
I want to deeply thank everyone who has supported the Abbey Players over the past two years. It has been a difficult time for many, many people, and I know the Abbey Players’ resilience in continuing to make live theatre has meant a lot to me and to the wonderful student artists I have had to opportunity to work with. We could not have done it without you. As words of closing, I’ll leave you with a couple lines from Theory.

It’s a big world.
